It isn't our right as Americans to detain anyone. If they suspected him of something and that a crime was in progress all they needed to do was call 9-1-1.

At the time citizen's arrest was perfectly legal in the state of Georgia. They legally were 100% correct to hold a suspected criminal until the police arrived. That was explicit in the law. Are you really claiming it is wrong for people to use their legal rights under that law?
