Nobody except Microsoft, that is.

Microsoft already captures and shares at least some of your data with one known data broker, Scorecard Research. Imagine how much more money they stand to make once everything you do on your Windows machine is captured by this "feature."

That's why GNU/Linux is the way to go.

Problem with that is, the same trend is starting to trickle into that ecosystem, as well. Ubuntu, for example, is getting pretty ill with it, although downstream forks such as Zorin, Linuxmint, and Pop!_OS typically excise that stuff, and Ubuntu's upstream base, Debian, doesn't include it to begin with.

Red Hat Enterprise Linux, don't know on that one. Its downstream fork, Fedora, includes bare-necessity telemetry in the form of diagnostic data, but that's opt-in/out during the installation and setup process.

Arch and Arch-based distros such as Manjaro, EndeavourOS, and ArcoLinux don't include telemetry at all, but that branch is hardly suitable for neophytes.

Still, if you harbor a healthy aversion to corporate OSes, Linux is now the way to go; just do your due diligence when choosing an OS, of course.

I was gonna install Linux on my Mac.

At least the older Intel Macs allowed you to - give the user a Triple boot and a choice.

Boot/startup the computer in Mac OS, Windows7,10 or Linux.

That's like getting 3 computers for the price of 1.

If you have an Intel-based Mac, you shouldn't have any issue installing any distro you want. If, however, you have an Apple Silicon based Mac, your only option, basically, is Asahi Linux.
