How about:
"That's probably going to be counterproductive."
"That's going to irritate people."
"That's not going to accomplish anything except burying currently active threads."

Maybe respond with a query:
"What will that accomplish?"
"Can you explain the logic behind that?"
"Isn't that just going to piss people off?"

Or you could unthinkingly follow ze orders and then tell anyone who doesn't like it to fuck off to some other forum.

That's sure to encourage more participation!

I hope you take this in the spirit it was given (constructive criticism) and not any kind of attack. I know you have trouble "reading" me so I feel I needed to spell that out. No aggro... just trying to help.
Thank you for that advice.

This could just be the site transitioning to a Blog.

If he asks me to do something that involves the forum and how it runs I'm going to do it. What would you have me say? "Sorry BF do it yourself."

You are the Little Bitch persona.

And you play the part very well....

Good morning wizer.

You really are stupid listening to Kojak. I'm a mod and BF is the owner of the forum. If he asks me to do something that involves the forum and how it runs I'm going to do it. What would you have me say? "Sorry BF do it yourself." You are a crybaby. If you don't like the way things are run then leave sir. It's that simple.

Hey no need to get all defensive. I'm just trying to help. With my extensive past experience as moderator and admin of multiple forums I have a good idea of what works and what doesn't. This place could be better. A LOT better. It's got a solid loyal member base and plenty of new, active content. Bumping old threads to simulate more activity isn't conducive to a positive forum experience, and your response "I do what I'm told, if you don't like it leave" simply magnifies the problem.

What if, hypothetically, BF says @Alticus I'd like to post some pictures on the forum of you sucking my cock. Assuming this hasn't already happened, would you naturally oblige because, well it has to do with the forum and BF asked you too? Do you have any ability to think for yourself or was all of that lost when you got the important moderator badge which you seem mighty proud of and want to prove you're the right man for the job?

IDK how how any of these types of forums can do much better...they are like VHS tapes in a 4k blu ray world. A super cool competitive arcade would help a bit but the law of diminishing returns has these places going the way of Blockbuster...or they will become blogs.

Arcades take up a tremendous amount of bandwith... go buy a PS4 on sale.

As for occasionally bumping older threads that are still relevant to encourage posting since so few of you have original threads and thoughts... why not? There's good shit there that got buried over time.

My take:

Even "good" threads have a natural life span with a beginning and an end.

If nobody has poasted in a thread for a while (or a few years) that's a clue that people have lost interest and moved on otherwise the thread would still be active or have been replaced by a similar but more current version.

Resurrecting threads for the sheer fuck of it; especially with a measly "bump" Reply; doesn't make any sense unless your goal is to bury the newer threads and piss people off?

Or... if the intent is to flood the front page with threads that have a lot of replies so that it superficially *looks* like the forum is more active than it truly is then say so. That's at least understandable if not exactly brilliant. You're only inconveniencing and irritating your ACTIVE members for the unrealistic *chance* that someone new will come along and see all the multi-response threads without actually noticing that many of them were started last decade.

Is that really a good trade-off? Discouraging the poasters you already have versus *maybe* (but not likely) tricking some unobservant (i.e. stupid) rando into registering?

I would have to say it's not.

I looked back to July at @wizer's postings. I didn't identify one new thread from him.

Perhaps he should be the change he wants to see in the world.
But that would require thought carried through into action, is he capable of such an all consuming feet?

So you wanna bitch and moan w that hillbilly voice... I don't see you starting anything interesting in any other forum.

To look busy to newbs? No... to keep things flowing here one way or another? Yes... sucks to be so upset to bitch about such tediousness... what else you got going in life? Worth a thread?

So just more awesomeness like these to get the masses raging?

Any of you know what a forum based interactive thread/topic looks like?
