I've never been much for cats. In fact when my vision care office parking lot was being overrun by strays that were sitting on cars and meowing all day long I started trapping and relocating them.
Since moving to Greece I've grown rather fond of them, 2 of the formerly feral cats now wear collars and have indoor privileges. The rest of the group that number around a dozen with some coming and going are fed daily. Some are very friendly and crave the attention, others a bit skitterish and others still tend to bolt when they see me coming.
But the ever growing numbers of feral cats are a problem. Not only on our property but all over Greece. Sometimes Nature just has to do its thing.
This latest litter of abandoned kittens is down to 1 survivor out of 4 and I'm giving him a day or 2 at most. The crying as he lays next to his last sibling who expired during the night is heart breaking. Trying to keep him alive would require bottle feeding every few hours and a long road towards independence and let's face it, it will only add to the bigger problem.
