BTW - you guys do know that the Keystone XL pipeline was only the fist leg of transporting oil (extracted by a highly polluting process) to China. It would not change a snap gasoline shortage here. That project is for the sole purpose of enriching ExxonMobil and it's CEOs.
Somehow, I don't think the Keystone pipeline project will ever be revived or get built.
There's too much opposition against the project in the US.
Plus many Americans are far too nationalistic to want to be dependent on a foreign power however friendly like Canada.
Even tho Canada would gladly supply America for eternity if it wanted.
And selling at well below the price of OPEC nations, many of which who hate the United States and are a source of terrorism such as Saudi Arabia.
Still...America promotes fracking, which is far worse on its environment than a pipeline.
Fracking not only poisons the ground, it also destabilizines the geological foundations of land close to residential areas.
This creates the potential for more sinkholes and earthquakes.
USA may not like the 'dirty oil' from Alberta, but it's not doing itself any favors through fracking.
USA is gonna pay a huge price environmentally in the coming decades.
Almost seems better of to allow the delapidation of the environment in another country which its own citizens don't care about.
The Alberta tarsands is a real shithole of an area not suitable for human habitation anyways.
-40 winters are not uncommon.
...but if Americans wanna wreck their own country to be 'self-sufficient' then so be it
