Aside from the incident itself, Rittenhouse did break the law as he was under aged & didn't have a permit to carry a gun.

I won't pass judgement yet on his actions that night, but his possession of a firearm was illegal.

No, it is not as even the judge himself said today. He said the laws are unclear, he needs more time to review them, and that they will revisit the motion to dismiss after he has done so.

The three relevant laws are 1) No one under 12 may carry a gun. 2) no one under 18 may carry a "compact rifle" (Kyle's was standard size and not compact. 3) The state say 17 year olds can carry standard sized rifles if they have a training certificate which Kyle does and did have at the time.

The disagreement is the really bad prosecutor is claiming the law doesn't say it is only for hunting but he thinks it was only meant for hunting. Kyle's lawyer pointed out the law did not require or mention anything about hunting; the law simply says 17 year olds with that certification may legally carry a rifle in the state.

Ziminski was the first person to fire a gun that night. After threatening to kill Kyle and stalking Kyle most of the night Ziminski and his pal Rosenbaum came up behind Kyle, Ziminski fired a shot from his 9mm pistol into the air to try to scare Kyle, Ziminski then shouted to Rosenbaum to "get him!" (Meaning get kyle). Then both Rosenbaum and Ziminski ran at Kyle to attack him.

Rosenbaum was shot in the head (left side), left hand, groin, and back. One 5.56mm built was found in his brain and a second 9mm bullet was found in his back. Ziminski's wife later told police her husband illegally carried a 9mm handgun despite being on parole and not legally being able to own one. We have two pictures of Ziminski firing and the sound of many other shots being fired some of which are clearly not .223.

Summary: Rosenbaum was shot by both Kyle and Ziminski. Ziminski was trying to shoot Kyle but accidently shot his antifa buddy in the back instead. That is how the violence started; with Ziminski opening fire.

That is the same link as before but there is pictures there of Ziminski, with Rosenbaum, and Ziminski is holding a 9mm handgun. Police say they also have several witnesses who claimed Ziminski fired the handgun first. Multiple videos also confirm that Ziminski opened fire first.
