I think many 'liberals' just wanted to see a middle of the road verdict/ solution which protected everyone including Kyle.

It could have been possible to acquit Rittenhouse of these murders while still limiting his access to firearms thereafter & discouraging vigilantism and street violence. Putting him on probation so he wouldn't get into trouble again nor encourage other youth to commit violence.

Trouble with these kind of trials is it just either-or & becomes injected with political rhetoric as opposed to common sense.

As I wrote in a previous thread I kinda figger ed this would happen before the verdict was handed down. That it would become a shit show between the American left and right as opposed to a verdict for the Greater good.
