...Well, it happened. Every 5 or 6 weeks I re-treat my hiking and fishing pants with permethrin. You gotta wash em first so rather than go do a load of wash I hand washed my fishing pants. It's easy. The pants a very light weight and dry fast. They were originally hikers which I wore fishing one day and wound up catching them on my lures a couple of times, ripping the hooks out in haste - so I just made them my fishing pants. Now they have lots of holes but the material is very good at resisting the propagation of a tear so it's fine...Oh
...so today I wash them by hand, ring them out and hang them...then horror
I notice that the right butt has worn through. Is it really a problem? I always wear Speedo Jammers under there so it's not a bare ass situation, but I tend to get very attached to things like the pants. I never replace things until they are no longer useful. Now I am considering 3 options:
1) Do nothing - this is often a good option (our government should consider that rather than perpetually making matters worse). Eventually they will wear to beyond repair or usefulness.
..2) Replace them straight away with a pair of reserve hikers of the same type but less pleasing (for fishing) color.
3) Take needle and thread to them.
Recently I came aware that there is a smaller version of a favorite vintage lure (the Baby Lucky 13) - This being the Tiny Lucky 13. Received a couple in good condition from ebay today and have a bid in for another pair in very good condition. They are quite small. Upon opening the package and see how tiny they really are, I have to wonder if these won't also be good for trout though river Smallies was why I purchased them.
