Of course. I did not mean to lose sight of that in my post. They absolutely believed the land belonged to everyone. The birds and trees were their brothers and sisters. Their relation to everything is unparalleled spiritually.
They also treated the settlers with more dignity and respect than they were given. They saved the early settlers from starvation.

I think it depends on the time period. Definitely, the Native American tribes quickly became hostile to the settlers. They were a threat.

Aussie aborigines were forbidden to drink but there was a political movement to give them drinking rights which they got ... maybe 1950s or 1960s...then it was banned and then there was such an outrage, the ban was lifted.
The facts are with aborigines it wasn't in their culture to drink alcohol, they didn't make it.
It is one of their biggest downfalls...
They (aborigines) WANTED drinking rights and it was given to them.
I would say our natives are the same as yours... not many are motivated to improve their lot or dominated by their elders to their lessers detriment.
Of course there are always ones who do advance to the 21 St Century which all of us need to do.

There is a direct link between poverty and addiction.
We had prohibition here where alcohol was outlawed. If memory serves me correct, 90% of people who drank were still drinking. Mostly because the European immigrants were already familiar with distilling alcohol.
But it’s outlawed when people see how detrimental alcohol is to a family. I’m sure a battered wife convinced someone to outlaw it completely because she was strapped with 4 kids and no means to support herself married to a degenerate bastard.

Natives sold land they didn't own... yes they occupied it but they didn't own it.
As citizens all people can go to work, buy a house and pay off the mortgage... that is what citizens are free to do in EVERY western country.
We are supposed to be EQUAL.

No, they were given alcohol and then presented with paperwork. This is why they have been given casinos that are not taxed as reparations. The untaxed funds are being distributed to anyone with a certain percentage of Native blood. I’m pretty sure the deeper roots the bigger the check from what I’ve heard.
Most of the people who lean left (I’m a moderate) agree there is a direct link between the underprivileged communities and addiction. The drugs are rampant there. The Republicans decided to wage war on them when it started showing up on wall street and in their homes via spoiled rich brats years ago.
Now every couple of decades I get to watch police murder one of them on television and endure the deadly riots that follow. I will support equality for this very reason till my dying breath.

Alcohol abuse is common and bad. They are not functioning alcoholics... your native Americans are FAR more advanced than our aborigines though.
But it's the same problem everywhere... men abusing alcohol and women too and of course all the negative problems that entails... one being babies born with mental defects.
We tried over pricing alcohol and cigarettes but all that does is increase petty crime as the addicts rob and mug and rob people.

It’s just too bad that we are able to find the money to fund the programs for the people when it’s too late instead of dealing with the problem before it starts.
The spike in homelessness should be a huge clue as to why we should be focused on our children and their education and care now more than ever.

The Prime Minister of my country Albanese was brought up in state housing by a single mother living in poverty.
His mother went to Italy when she was young, had an affair with a man who wouldn't marry her because he was promised to someone else...
So sorry, if I can't sympathise with people who don't take advantage of the 21 century.

My fiancé feels the same way…
His family is wealthy, he had a happy childhood and his parents were married until his mother passed.
But he works his fucking ass off and is a minority, so it’s harder to argue this point with him.

I have a distant cousin who was raised upper middle class like this… she ended up in rehab and all the ghetto bitches told her she had “white girl problems” LOL
But honestly, her mother’s family is dysfunctional and her mom disassociated and never dealt with anything. Mom’s father was a raging alcoholic and she worked hard to get away from that.
Disfunction is poison to any family lineage.
