If you haven't seen it before, I have advocated for a free of charge, national ID card for citizens that can be used for voting. If that is available, I would gladly support a voter ID requirement for voting.

In years past I used an ID to vote and never had a quarrel with it. In principle, it's a fine idea. In practice, we need to have every voter with an ID that is free of charge and that can be provided by the government to ensure it's free. I advocate for a national ID card because I don't believe in waiting for any individual state to act according to the best interests of all its citizens...
