There are many different theoretical schools. When one takes a theory class in college, one usually gets an overview of these differing theories. Like I said, there are MANY, and they change over time. The point of TEACHING them is not to agree with and adopt all of them, but simply to know and understand them. You know, kind of like teaching what happened in history. Just because you learn about/study a movement in history, doesn't mean you agree with it and want to adopt it.
